Campaign Terms
Last updated August 8, 2026
The short version
- A pledge is a commitment, not a purchase — your card is saved and charged only if the campaign hits its goal by the deadline.
- You can change or cancel your pledge any time before the deadline.
- If the goal is missed, nobody is charged and every pledge is released.
- Rewards are the filmmaker's promise — we move the money; we don't make the film.
- Filmmakers keep 90% of what's collected; our platform fee is a flat 10%.
- A campaign's goal and deadline lock at publish, so the deal backers pledged into can't change underneath them.
These Campaign Terms govern fundraising campaigns on Little Indie Films (littleindiefilms.com and its subdomains, the “Service”), operated by Scratchmade LLC (“we”, “us”). They apply to everyone who backs a campaign (a “backer”) and everyone who runs one (a “filmmaker”). Part 1 is for backers, Part 2 is for filmmakers — but both parts bind both of you, because a campaign is an agreement between you two, with us handling the payments.
Part 1 — For backers
Backing a campaign means helping a filmmaker raise a production budget before they shoot. Here is exactly what happens with your money.
1. A pledge is a commitment, not a purchase
When you pledge, you are not buying a product — you are committing to contribute to a film if its campaign succeeds. Your card is saved securely by Stripe, our payment processor; nothing is charged when you pledge. We never see or store your card number.
2. When your card is charged — and when it isn’t
Every campaign is all-or-nothing, with a fixed funding goal and a deadline:
- Goal met by the deadline — your saved card is charged the amount you pledged, once, after the filmmaker closes the campaign. The payment goes to the filmmaker.
- Goal missed — nobody is charged. Every pledge is released, and your saved payment method is not used.
- Your card fails at collection — if your card is declined or expired when the campaign closes, your pledge is not collected and you are not a backer of record for rewards. Keep your card current if you want your pledge to count.
3. Changing or canceling your pledge
You may change your pledge amount, switch reward tiers, or cancel your pledge entirely at any time before the deadline. A tier pledge must at least meet that tier’s minimum. After the deadline, pledges are final: if the goal was met, your card will be charged.
The goal and deadline you pledged against are locked when the campaign publishes — the filmmaker cannot move them under you. The campaign’s story, video, images, and reward tiers may be edited while it is live, so check your pledge if a reward you chose changes.
4. Rewards are the filmmaker’s promise
Reward tiers are offered by the filmmaker, not by us. Little Indie Films facilitates the payment; we do not produce the film, and we do not guarantee that rewards will be delivered, that the film will be completed, or that any timeline will be met. By backing a campaign you accept that filmmaking carries risk: projects can be delayed, changed, or — rarely — not finished. The filmmaker is solely responsible for fulfilling rewards and for any refunds they choose to offer. We are not obligated to refund collected pledges.
5. Problems, disputes, and chargebacks
If something goes wrong with a campaign you backed:
- Contact the filmmaker first. They made the promise, they have the funds, and most issues are resolved directly.
- If that fails, email us at hello@littleindiefilms.com. We can’t force a filmmaker to deliver a reward, but we investigate reported campaigns and act under these terms and our Community Guidelines.
Please do not dispute a charge with your bank (a “chargeback”) for a pledge that was collected exactly as described here — a charge you agreed to, on a campaign that met its goal, is not an unauthorized charge. Chargebacks filed in bad faith may result in suspension of your account. If you genuinely don’t recognize a charge, contact us first and we’ll help you trace it.
6. What the charge looks like on your statement
Your payment is processed on the filmmaker’s own Stripe account, so the line on your card statement may show the filmmaker’s name or business name rather than “Little Indie Films”. The charge description references your pledge and the campaign title. Before reporting an unrecognized charge, check the campaigns you’ve backed.
7. Who can pledge
You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live) and legally able to enter a binding agreement to pledge. You must use a payment method you are authorized to use.
Part 2 — For filmmakers
Running a campaign means taking real money from real people against a promise. Take the promise seriously — these are the rules you accept when you publish.
8. You are contracting with your backers
When your campaign succeeds, a contract forms between you and each collected backer: they funded your stated production, and you owe them the rewards you offered. We are not a party to that contract — we provide the platform and payment rails. Payments are processed on your own Stripe account, subject to Stripe’s connected-account agreement, and you must complete Stripe’s identity verification (18+) before you can run a campaign.
9. Use of funds and delivering rewards
You agree to:
- make good-faith use of collected funds for the production described in your campaign;
- fulfill every reward you offered to every collected backer, or — if a reward becomes impossible to deliver — make it right, which may mean a substitute of equal or greater value or refunding that backer’s pledge;
- keep backers reasonably informed of the production’s progress, especially delays;
- honor the goal and deadline your backers pledged against — they lock at publish and cannot be changed.
If backers charge back collected pledges because your campaign misrepresented itself or rewards were not delivered, you are responsible for those amounts, including dispute fees, and we may recover them from your future payouts.
10. Campaigns we don’t allow
Your campaign must fund a real film production that you control. You may not run a campaign that:
- funds anything illegal, or violates our Community Guidelines or Terms of Service;
- offers raffles, lotteries, sweepstakes, or any prize awarded by chance;
- offers securities, equity, profit sharing, revenue participation, loan repayment, or any financial return — rewards are goods, experiences, and credits, never investments;
- makes misleading claims — about the project, attached cast or crew, festival history, or where the money goes;
- uses material you don’t have rights to (our DMCA policy applies to campaign pages like everything else on the Service).
11. Fees
Our platform fee is a flat 10% of each collected pledge; Stripe’s processing costs come out of our share, not yours — so you keep 90% of every dollar collected. If your goal is missed, nothing is collected and no fee applies. Campaign goals run from $500 to $20,000.
12. Close-out duties
After your deadline passes, you close the campaign out from your dashboard — do so promptly, since backers are waiting to learn the outcome. If the goal was met, collection runs: each saved card is charged and your backers are notified. Some charges may fail, so the amount collected can land under the amount pledged — failed pledges carry no reward obligation. If the goal was missed, every pledge is released, nobody is charged, and you owe your backers nothing.
13. Suspension and removal
We may pause, suspend, or remove a campaign — and withhold close-out — if we believe it violates these terms, the Terms of Service, or the Community Guidelines, or if Stripe requires it. Repeat or serious violations may end your access to payment features or the Service.
14. Taxes
Funds you collect may be taxable income, and rewards you ship may be subject to sales tax. Taxes are your responsibility — we do not withhold or remit them for you, and nothing here is tax advice.
Changes to these terms
We may update these Campaign Terms; material changes will be announced on the Service. Changes do not retroactively alter the goal, deadline, or fee of a campaign that is already live.

These Campaign Terms supplement our Terms of Service — including its limitation of liability, indemnification, and governing-law sections — and control over it where campaigns are concerned.
